Break and back

Time doesn’t travel fast, we do. It feels nice to tap the dust off of this blog after 2 months. I hope my writing hasn’t gone rusty. I suppose not, since I’ve written what seems like tons of drafts for B school essays meanwhile. Winter has maneuvered its way out of no where on to the east coast. I already feel ripped off of a good summer, which never smiled upon NYC this year. However, now that I’ve got some time to just sit and relax a bit, I do feel more cheerful than what the growling winds outside warrant.

I figured out my home page did need a major revamping. An abstract design and fluid layout was long due and came out as a good exercise to get the wheels rolling back. So, here is the new snapshot (created using thumbalizr).

From my first design (can’t find the snapshot right now), I think I’ve progressed well in interface designing. Although I am getting more experimental with photoshop, I’m far from ‘comfortable’. I should buy that PS tips and tricks book soon. My recent love happens to be in the field of typography – known as ‘art of types and glyphs’ or ‘font styling’ in very simplish terms. The type aesthetics can make all the difference to the look and feel of a plain vanilla website without a single image. This, in part, incited me to choose a typographic theme for my Moonstruck blog, which I’ve fully dedicated to poetries now. Moonstruck means mentally deranged, supposedly by the influence of the moon; crazed; dreamily romantic or bemused. I thought it applied well to ghazals and their philosophy. I hope you like the blog’s design or its lack thereof.

I have a lot to write about that I couldn’t jot down over past few months including juvenile court trials experience in connection with a non-profit org (AGYP), MBA deja vu, more web tricks, lusterless post US Open tennis season, political doldrums in Pakistan, Obama’s Nobel prize and the movie ‘Amadeus’. To follow soon. I hope you have had a wonderful time since you last visited here!
